charity match 2024

Leonie Munn, wife of David Munn, one of our best dedicated players is running The London Marathon on the 21st of April 2024 to raise funds for Cornwall Hospice Care which provides support and end of life care throughout Cornwall, for patients, their families and carers.

Her story

I am taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon in April 2024, to raise much needed and vital funds for Cornwall Hospice Care. Help me to make a difference and keep the amazing nurses giving much needed care to those people living with a terminal illness in Cornwall right now.

And once again Royal Par A.F.C is up to the task with another charity game that finally happened on the 7th of April after getting postponed due to terrible weather, to help her raise money for the honorable cause.

Big thanks to Par Track for givting us pitch.

Par Track Thistle 3 - Mary Poppins FC 2

Match Report by David Munn:

The weather finally broke, pitch buffeted by a hefty wind only for the first half.... The teams lined up with last minute changes required as Par Track Thistle skipper hadn't even arrived at KO time.

Away 11 started brightly, holding on to the ball to negate the howling wind, Par Track Thistle did manage to put the low intensity press on from time to time causing some problems for Mark the cat Place in the Mary Poppins team goal.

Young Oli broke the deadlock for the Par Track Thistle team poking the ball home at the back post just before the enforcer Mr White showed him the shoulder.

Match stayed evenly posed throughout the first half with Mike McAvoy leaving the shooting boots at home.

The equaliser arrived just before the break with a scrappy goal line tap in from Jake Both teams trundled off at the break reasonably satisfied with both the performance and the half time score. It was time for Mr Hague and Mr Place to earn their money with tactical & motivational masterclasses. Secretly some on the away team were hoping the cheating tactics of the front three were not deployed again....

Into the second half and Mary Poppins FC team took the lead again with a wonderful strike from Sam Goodswenafter some unbelievable defending from young Jake McKeown and a unbelievable miss from Davey Munn heading over the bar from 3 yards out....

Then the moment the game changed, the Par Track Thistle team fought back again with a wonderful curling lob volley from 20 yards leaving the Cat with no chance whatsoever. Unfortunately it was in the wrong net by the Mary Poppins FC team very owns Brian Trethewey.

Wave after wave of end to end high class football continued until with 5 minutes to go the Par Track Thistle team got the break through. A deep cross to the back post, headed back across the goal only to hit Paul Morgan and drop in at the near post. Leaving it 3 2 to Par Track Thistle with the Mary Poppins FC team scoring 4 out of the 5 goals on the day....

Great day out, thanks to the Royal Inn for their hospitality afterwards and to all who donated to Cornwall Hospice Care.
